Concubine Lane, or Lorong Panglima, has roots dating back to the late 19th century during Ipoh's tin mining boom. It was said to be a residential area for the mistresses (concubines) of wealthy Chinese tycoons, hence its name. The street, part of Ipoh’s Old Town, flourished during British colonial rule, with its distinctive shophouses that combine Chinese and European architectural styles. Over the years, the lane experienced neglect but has since been revived into a vibrant tourist spot, preserving its historical charm while embracing modern cafes, shops, and street vendors.
