Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park is located in Kampung Kuantan village, approximately 9 kilometers from Kuala Selangor town in Selangor. The park sits along the banks of Selangor River, about 65-70 kilometers northwest of Kuala Lumpur. Navigate using GPS or Waze by searching for Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park.
Malaysian residents pay RM60 per sampan boat (maximum 4 passengers), while international visitors pay RM100 per sampan boat (maximum 4 passengers). Each boat accommodates up to four people, making it economical for families or small groups to share costs. Tickets are purchased at the park's ticketing counter.
The sampan boat journey lasts approximately 20-30 minutes. The traditional hand-rowed boats glide quietly along the Selangor River, providing ample time to observe fireflies, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, and learn from your boatman guide about firefly ecology and conservation efforts.
The optimal viewing time is shortly after 8:00 PM on clear, moonless nights when fireflies are most active and visible. Darker nights without moon interference provide the most spectacular displays. After approximately 9:00 PM, fireflies may have found mates and stop flashing, reducing visibility.
Photography without flash is permitted, though capturing fireflies requires specialized camera equipment and long exposure techniques. Flash photography is strictly prohibited as it disrupts and confuses fireflies who communicate through bioluminescent signals. Most visitors choose to simply enjoy the experience without photography.
