About

Ah Ma House represents a unique convergence of culinary heritage and cultural preservation in Sekinchan, Selangor. Established in 2015 by entrepreneur couple Ng Joo Leong and Kwi Ai Fang, this distinctive heritage bakery occupies a traditional wooden structure at Lot 10376, Jalan Tali Air 5, approximately 90-92 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur. The establishment derives its name from the Hokkien term "Ah Ma" meaning paternal grandmother, reflecting its mission to preserve and celebrate generational family traditions within an authentic cultural setting.

The bakery's cornerstone offering is handmade kuih kapit, locally known as love letters or egg waffles, prepared using a three-generation family recipe that Ng inherited from his grandmother. This traditional delicacy utilizes only four pure ingredients including freshly squeezed thick coconut milk rather than commercial instant products, combined with sugar, flour, and eggs. The preparation method remains unchanged from decades past, with skilled artisans using traditional iron moulds to sandwich egg batter before baking each piece individually over burning charcoal. This labor-intensive process produces the distinctive smoky aroma and crispy texture that has made Ah Ma House's kuih kapit highly sought after, particularly during Chinese New Year season when demand peaks significantly.

Beyond its culinary offerings, Ah Ma House functions as an immersive nostalgic experience and mini-museum showcasing authentic vintage artifacts from the 1970s through 1990s. The wooden house interior features carefully curated collections including black-and-white televisions, rotary dial telephones, Singer sewing machines, vintage radios, traditional kitchen appliances, firewood stoves, rattan furniture, and various household items that evoke memories of Malaysian kampung life. Visitors can explore these nostalgic displays while watching live kuih kapit demonstrations at the entrance, purchase traditional snacks and souvenirs, and capture memorable photographs against the backdrop of surrounding paddy fields. The establishment also offers antique buggy rides through rice field areas for RM5 per person, enhancing the immersive cultural experience.
