About This Adventure Tour

Permit required. Apply online via the Selangor Forestry Department: https://forestry.selangor.gov.my/permit/

Kemensah Waterfalls is one of Selangor’s most accessible rainforest hiking corridors, located in Hulu Klang just outside Kuala Lumpur. Set within the Hulu Langat Forest Reserve on the foothills of Gunung Nuang, the area forms part of an ancient lowland dipterocarp ecosystem estimated to be over 100 million years old.

The main trail extends 10 km through shaded primary forest with relatively low elevation gain, making it suitable for beginners, school groups, and first-time hikers. Despite its accessibility, the route offers strong ecological and terrain diversity, transitioning from open tracks to denser jungle paths with multiple stream crossings.

The corridor connects three well-known waterfalls: Sofea Jane (Jeram Kubang Gajah), Maya Karin (Lata Pinang), and Neelofa (Lata Gitar). Each site presents distinct hydrological and geological features, ranging from wide sloping cascades to more vertical drops with deeper plunge pools. These variations create natural swimming areas, though conditions depend heavily on rainfall and upstream flow.

Flora is dominated by dipterocarp species such as meranti and keruing, supported by understory plants like ferns, rattans, and wild gingers. Fauna includes macaques, leaf monkeys, monitor lizards, forest birds, and diverse insect life along riparian zones.

With shaded trails, rest points, and multiple entry options, most visitors complete the hike within half a day, making Kemensah a practical introduction to Malaysia’s tropical rainforest systems.

Every booking includes a mandatory permit (RM5/person) issued by the Selangor Forestry Department and personal accident insurance (RM3/person). A licensed guide is required at RM200/day, with a maximum ratio of 1 guide per 10 participants.

Price per person by group size:
- 1 pax: RM 266
- 2 pax: RM 138
- 3 pax: RM 96
- 5 pax: RM 61
- 10 pax: RM 35 to 36
- 15 pax: RM 44 *(2nd guide required)*
- 20 pax: RM 35 to 36
Groups of 10 or 20 offer the lowest per-person rate. At 15 participants, a second guide is required, which slightly raises the per-head cost compared to a group of 10 or 20.
