Founded in 1979, Jadi Batek Gallery is one of Malaysia’s oldest and most respected batik art centres, located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. This family-run gallery functions as both a working studio and a cultural education space dedicated to preserving the intricate craft of Malaysian batik. Blending heritage with accessibility, the gallery offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the traditional hand-drawn wax-resist process still practised by skilled local artisans.
Visitors can observe live demonstrations of batik production, explore curated exhibits of batik textiles, and join guided workshops suitable for all ages. These hands-on sessions range from basic batik colouring to more detailed design work, all taught by experienced craftspeople. The retail section showcases a diverse collection of handmade items—apparel, scarves, wall hangings, and household decor, crafted on-site using time-honoured methods.
