Founded in 1973, East Coast Batik Sdn. Bhd., widely recognized as Batik CHONG, is a heritage batik manufacturer and boutique located in Kampung Talak, Kelantan. As a long-standing institution in Malaysia’s East Coast textile industry, the family-run business is known for preserving traditional batik craftsmanship while offering visitors a deeper cultural understanding of this iconic Malay art form.
Batik CHONG specializes in two time-honored techniques: hand-drawn batik (batik canting) and block printing (batik cap). Skilled artisans use natural fiber textiles to create intricate patterns, often inspired by flora, fauna, and local motifs. The boutique showcases a wide selection of products, including batik textiles, apparel, home decor, and handcrafted souvenirs, all produced on-site.
The factory and showroom are open to visitors, with guided tours and hands-on workshops available for those interested in learning batik-making techniques. Set in a tranquil village atmosphere about 15 minutes from Kota Bharu, the site is accessible by private car with ample parking.
