About

Deer Park is a free-entry wildlife enclosure inside Kuala Lumpur's Perdana Botanical Gardens (Lake Gardens), on Jalan Perdana. It holds sika deer, the world's smallest hoofed mammal, in a roughly 2-hectare section of the 91.6-hectare gardens. Entry is free; feeding the deer is no longer permitted.

The park sits within Perdana Botanical Gardens, established in 1888 as Kuala Lumpur's first large-scale public park, and is managed by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). The sika deer stock originates from the Netherlands; the mousedeer is native to Malaysia's rainforest and is the smallest ungulate in the world.

Deer are viewed from pathways that run close to the enclosure fencing; feeding was previously allowed but has since been discontinued, and visitors are asked to observe without approaching or offering food. Deer mating and territorial behavior between males is occasionally visible from the public path — not scheduled or guaranteed, but something visitors sometimes catch.

Suits visitors combining a Lake Gardens walk with the adjacent Bird Park, Butterfly Park, or Hibiscus Garden; the enclosure's small size means one pass-through covers most of what's on view within an hour
