The River of Life (RoL) is a transformative urban rejuvenation project in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, aiming to revitalize the Klang and Gombak rivers into a vibrant waterfront and cultural hub. As part of Malaysia's Economic Transformation Program, the project focuses on enhancing the rivers' economic and aesthetic value, making Kuala Lumpur one of the world's most livable cities.
The RoL project encompasses three key components:
A highlight of the RoL is the "Blue Pool" or "Kolam Biru," featuring a high-tech water fountain system that presents nightly light shows. These displays, synchronized with music, illuminate the river with vibrant blue lighting, creating a captivating experience for visitors.
Strategically located near significant landmarks such as Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad—the city's oldest mosque—the River of Life serves as a convergence point for the Klang and Gombak rivers. This area has been transformed from a polluted waterway into a dynamic, livable waterfront with high economic value.
The project's success has garnered international recognition, with the River of Life being listed among the top 10 most beautiful waterfronts in the world.
